HighSierra boot camp error Disk could not be partitioned

HI,

I need help as I am a new Mac user and trying to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant. However I am not able to success since it gives me the error : disk could not be partitioned.

I ran the first aid in disk utility with no luck.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

I bought it last week online on the apple store, so it is new, but I don't know its real date of manufacture.

Many thanks in advance to help me further.

Hi Loner,

The disk0s3 must have come with the computer since I haven't installed anything yet. However I am willing to remove it if it causes the problem.

My only trouble is that this disk doesn't show up in disk utility, so I have no idea of how to remove it. Is it possible?

Thank you

Much better.

Run

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC1 disk0s3

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC2 disk0s4

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC3 disk0s5

diskutil mergePartitions jhfs+ BCMP disk0s3 disk0s5

diskutil list

If you only see disk0s3, then

diskutil eraseVolume fat32 BOOTCAMP disk0s3

and now run BC Assistant and try to Remove/Restore.

The other method is to use Time Machine backup, erase the whole disk, and restore the TM backup.

In IR, when you are in Terminal, run

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC3 disk0s5

diskutil mergePartitions jhfs+ BCMP disk0s3 disk0s5

Select and Copy (Command+C) the output, quit Terminal, start Safari (Get Help Online) and Paste (Command+V) the output as a reply to this discussion. Quit Safari and get back to Terminal.

Hi Loner,

I do apologize for my late reply.

I was lost with the time machine procedure. I called the Apple support and they guided me through reinstalling mac os.

That disk0s5 went away so I could successfully run Boot camp.

Unfortunately, the WiFi, backlight and function keys were not working on Windows. I tried to updated with the Windows Update Support of Boot camp, but after running it on Windows, I had a blue screen telling to press F1 to enter environment recovery. But the function keys were not working! I returned to mac and restored again.

I will try it again when I will have some time.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciated it.
