Can't get videos to transfer from iPhone to Mac

I have just taken several videos on my iPhone. How to I get them to transfer to my iMac and my iPad?

I do not want all my devices synced. Ideally I'd like to get them off my phone to free up memory and onto my computer and my iPad both of which have plenty of available memory.

On the iPhone I am running iOS 10.3.3. In settings for Photos & Camera, I have iCloud Photo Library off ; My Photo Steam on; Upload Burst Photos on.

On the iPad I am also running iOS 10.3.3. Setting for Photos & Camera on this device: iCloud Photo Library on; My Photo Stream on; Upload to my Photo Stream on; iCloud photo sharing on.

On the iMac I am running MacOS 10.12.6; Photos v 2.0. Photos preferences have My Photo Stream checked; iCloud photo sharing checked; iCloud Photo Library is not checked. (I do not want my entire photo library uploaded to iCloud)

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Hello MikeLV,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to import a video from your iPhone to your Mac and you don't use iCloud Photo Library on either device. To help with this issue, please follow these steps from this Apple resource on your situation:

Check your connections and update your software

Try to import your photos using a different Apple USB cable.

If you still can't import, update your software:

  1. Check for updates to your photo management software.
  2. Get the latest version of iTunes.
  3. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  4. Update your Mac or PC. In Windows, use the Windows Update application.
  5. Try to import your photos again.

Try to import a new photo

  1. Take a new photo or save a screenshot on your iOS device by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
  2. Connect your iOS device to your computer.
  3. Try to import your photos using your photo management software. Or try these steps on your computer:
    • On your Mac, open Image Capture from the Applications folder.
    • On your PC, go to the Microsoft website to learn how to import photos in Windows 10, Windows 8, or Windows 7.

If your computer doesn't see your device, make sure that your device trusts the computer.

Try a different computer

If you don't see the camera entry in the Device Manager, test your iOS device on a different computer. If another computer recognizes the iOS device as a camera, contact Microsoft, or whoever supports Windows on your computer, for help.

If you're using a Mac, try using AirDrop to send your photos to your computer wirelessly.

Cheers!

On the iPhone I am running iOS 10.3.3. In settings for Photos & Camera, I have iCloud Photo Library off ;My Photo Steam on; Upload Burst Photos on.

My Photo Stream cannot transfer videos or Live Photos.

If you want to transfer them, connect the iPhone to a USB port of your computer or use iCloud Photo Library.

I do not want all my devices synced. Ideally I'd like to get them off my phone to free up memory and onto my computer and my iPad both of which have plenty of available memory.

If you do not want the devices to sync with iCloud Photo Library, you can create a new, empty library on your Mac and sync this empty library with your iPhone. The photos and videos will download to your Mac and you can then export them to a folder on your mac and from there to your main library.

Delete the video and photos you do not want from your download library, that will remove them from your iPhone as well. Then delete this library.
