Any way to get rid of a calendar I did not subscribe to?

I just got a notification for Juneteenth. I didn't know what it is and I don't give a carp about it. The calendar it belongs to was turned off, yet the Event Alerts setting for it was still on. (It's weird that disabling a calendar doesn't also disable its alerts.) iOS doesn't show where a calendar came from, and this one has no Unsubscribe or Delete button. Another thread said it shows up automatically when you choose your calendar region (Gregorian, etc). I just want it gone, especially if it's going to show me bogus holidays.

Open the Calendar app. Tap "Calendars" at the bottom. Uncheck any calendars you don't want to subscribe to.

Note that "Juneteenth" has been added to the built in U.S. Holiday calendar. You can unsubscribe to that calendar but you cannot edit it. If you unsubscribe there are thousands of calendars available for you to subscribe to that might better meet your needs. Here's one source:

That is a calendar you subscribed to. It is not the built in iOS U.S. Holidays calendar. If it were, you wouldn't be able to unsubscribe to it. It may also be an Apple Calendar. If memory serves, you need to subscribe to one if you're using the Calendar app on your Mac. I haven't used that application in years so, my memory may be off.

The U.S. Holidays calendar that is part of iOS has had a glitch in where it shows as "Untilted". It appears that, for many people the glitch is only on their iPhones, not their iPads. And, in my case, it has resolved itself.

It's a shame users can't get rid of that one.

You can certainly let Apple know how you feel here:

It is likely that you also have another U.S. Holidays calendar on your phone. You said you were able to remove that one. If so, it's not the built in Apple calendar. The Untitled one is the Apple one. Uncheck it and you won't see any of the holidays in it. But, as I said, it cannot be removed or edited.

Mine was listed as "Untitled" a couple of days ago. I only noticed because Lawrence pointed it out. I checked it for the purposes of this thread and it's back to to "U.S. Holidays" but does include Juneteenth. I suspect that, in the course of adding some additional holidays, including Juneteenth, something went wrong and the title didn't update properly.

I also see it in Calendar.app on my Mac (now that I'm home), and it does NOT contain Juneteenth. And I don't see the Untitled Calendar on my Mac.

I'm also able to check my iPad at this point, and it has the undeleteable calendar, but it's named US Holidays there, while the phone still shows it as Untitled Calendar. So I'll just have to remember to turn that one off on every iOS device I get.

Sure, people can express opinions. But that’s not why Apple created these forums, and it sure doesn’t help the person asking th question. They even say somewhere if you can’t help, don’t reply.

I just reviewed the Terms of Use and I can't find that anywhere. I did see where it said posts should be of a technical nature. rbrylawski and I were discussing the fact that the name of the calendar appears to have changed in which was included a parenthetical comment about liking the holidays. I would have no trouble making the case that that was a technical discussion.

You do not get to decide who posts on this forum. Only the Hosts can do that.

Best of luck.
