magic mouse battery life

My magic mouse battery life is very short (have to change the batteries monthly). Is this normal and how can the life be improved?

Good morning Robert,

Strange about the user tip; it works for me. Anyway, try again with this one.

The batteries you are using are certainly of the quality Apple prefer; I would expect them to last 5 to 6 weeks though turning the mouse off would have negligible effect. Assume you bought from a reputable store and were not fakes.

Hello Roberta,

Tell me, how long have you had this mouse and what kind of batteries are you using.

Are you using Apple rechargeable, for example.

This is a user tip I wrote some time ago; it may give you some guidance and the answers to the questions above may help me help you, too.

Batteries.

This magic mouse was purchased with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015). I'm using Duracell alkaline batteries and use a mouse pad. I don't turn if off at night and use it about 2 - 3 hours a day. I clicked on your "batteries" but it didn't take me to any "user tip". Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I’m dismayed that the mouse can only expect to last a month or so with fresh batteries or less with or between recharge cycles. But glad to understand this is “normal”. Annoying Price to pay for the mouse. I might investigate other wireless mouse.

The key to this is rechargeable batteries. With a charger and a set of six you need never be without batteries.

And when you upgrade to El Capitan and above, the magic mouse 2 will charge fully in two and a half hours and last six to eight weeks.

It will also give you a couple of days use with a simple 5 minute charge, either from the mains or the computer.

Wish you well.
