iPhone X proximity sensor too sensitive.

I have just bought the iPhone X and the proximity sensor is way to sensitive. If I put my hand within an inch of the notch it turns the screen off. I have updated to the latest software but the problem is still there. Any ideas?

I suggest that you make a Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple store to have that checked. I've tested my device here at home, opening Messages and Camera, and holding my hand over the proximity sensor does nothing to my device. Those screens should not turn off at that point. It could be a hardware problem, and Apple can diagnose that for you.
