GarageBand updated to 10.3.1. When I tried to rum my D16 plugin it asked for permission to lower security level, I said yes and the plugin is working again. Previously you had no option as it basically said your plugin was toast. Apple, get your act together.
A simple regression test literally checking if ANY plugin loaded after launching application would have found this.
It's very disappointing and even concerning that a company this size, with so many customers could drop the ball on this (multiple times even).
Who is in charge of QA over there? Why was a test not added after this failed last time?
As other's said you may have some luck restoring to 10.2 but this may come with other unintended consequences (for instance my C01UPRO Mic doesn't work at all anymore in 10.2)
It was not a major update like going to 64 bit so why did my plugins stop working? I am tired of buyin expensive plugins to have them die every time an update is done. I guess they are saying don’t bother with third party stuff.
I'm having the same issue. I'm no long able to use Amplitube 3 or Guitar Rig 5 in GarageBand. Strangely enough, Guitar Rig 5 still works in MainStage 3. I'm pretty disappointed as GarageBand is one of the major reasons why I stick with Apple products. I was planning on upgrading to Logic in the next few months but I won't risk that considering the compatibility issues with GarageBand.
For better results, it is a good idea to upgrade to Logic X because you can set higher Sample Rates and optimize buffer sizes for minimum latency (if your audo interface is capable of). Currently no problem with 3rd party AU's in Logic X for my part...
Same problem here, Omnisphere + Keyscape (Spectrasonics), and Velvet 2 (Air Music)
All 64 Bit, No Updates. In Logic X no problems, only Garageband after Update today (10.3)
PS: Happens on two different machines, a mac mini and Macbook Pro, both up to date and in top shape with High Sierra.
Something must have been changed in GarageBand to break this.
GarageBand is now using new plug-ins "Alchemy" for the Transform Pad.
Seems to be a severe thing, shouldn't have slipped through QC...
Yes!!!, It's reading the plugins now. Didn't know that I could restore this way, thanks again!
same problem with Kontakt 5 and other vst
Apple!!!! Help!! This is silly....
I just got this MacBook so no time capsule was set up. Am I not going to be able to do this?
Same problem...
Any help ? I have no backup...
