GarageBand updated to 10.3.1. When I tried to rum my D16 plugin it asked for permission to lower security level, I said yes and the plugin is working again. Previously you had no option as it basically said your plugin was toast. Apple, get your act together.

anyone one knows how to revert to 10.2? i have sessions that are still incomplete.

The easiest way would be to restore your Mac from the last Time Machine backup you made before you updated to GarageBand 10.3.

It might suffice to restore only the GarageBand 10.2 Application from the backup, but then you will have to restore the sound library as well after reverting to 10.2 using the menu "GarageBand > Sound Library > Restore Sound Library".

Ok so I went ahead and called Apple support. They did not know this issue existed. I spoke to 2 different tech support guys and they had me do a lot of troubleshooting on my end like updating permissions, deleting cache files, all kinds of stuff. They both started off trying to pass it off saying it's not an Apple/Garageband issue and I had tried to refer them to this very thread saying it seems to be directly related to the update and there's no way that all in one day all the 3rd party plug ins are out of date.

Eventually I just asked the guy if he can open Garageband and try a third party plug in. He could not. That's when the tone changed and he said he's getting all the documentation together to submit this to the engineers as it seems to be a universal problem.

So, it was ok to be the "guinea pig" just so he can say here's all the steps we took and still no resolution, and hopefully there will be a follow up update soon. I would maybe suggest you guys also call and let them know you're having the same issue. While we have this thread going on this page, they said I was the first they're hearing of it and they have nothing notated in their internal system until now.

I sent an email directly to Support 2 days ago. No response. Kind of bizarre - someone at Apple created the update, but they seem disconnected from support? Weird.

Per this thread, I realized that I had a CCC backup of my files from several months back. I opened GB from there and it not only worked, but the 3rd party plugs showed up and worked (w/o me reloading anything). As a lifelong long windows guy, I didnt expect this to work, but I copied the app file from the CCC backup and pasted it to my desktop and it seems to work as normal.

I immediately had this problem too. I get an error message from the Townsend Microphone plugin and several others. The Two Note workaround plugin is also not recognized. I deleted several of the error plugins, reloaded them and rescanned all plugins. Still get the error message. Very inconvenient.

As a relatively new Apple user (only got an IMAC to use Garageband) I am extremely disappointed. This is so fundamental that it is like an update to WORD where the program cant recognize certain keys on your keyboard!
