Anker USB-C to USB2 + Ethernet adapter inoperative after 10.13.5 update

None of the features of my Anker USB-C to USB 2 adapter work following the installation of the High Sierra 10.13.5 update. I've got a MacBook Pro 2017 model and the adapter worked great until the update. I've tried cycling power and unplugging/plugging in the adapter. Other USB-C-attached devices work fine, this includes an external monitor and hard drive enclosure.

The device doesn't show up under the "USB" section of the System Information report. The network control panel states the cable is unplugged which it assuredly isn't as the lights are blinking on both the adapter and the port on the modem. None of the USB 2 ports work as they did, I used one for an external keyboard and the other for a printer.

Does anyone out there have this Anker adapter working under 10.13.5?

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)

I tried resetting the SMC as suggested on another thread. This didn't resolve the issue.

I was able to resolve the problem by unplugging all items plugged into it (two USB devices and the Ethernet cable) and then unplugging the device from the MacBook. I then plugged the device back and, after plugging in the USB devices and the Ethernet cable, everything is working.

Sort of an extended play version of "turn it off and back on again" I guess. Thinking back on things, there was always something supplying power to the Anker device as it seems to be happy drawing power from the Ethernet connect or the Mac or the USB ports.
