Selling my old iPhone 3G, what do I need to do?

I've got an old iPhone 3G that I want to sell, however I don't have a charger for it. I'm going to sell it for spares or repairs but as I can't turn it on I don't know what personal info is on there. I've removed the sim card, will this be good enough? It's from when I was a teenager so there won't be any financial info or dodgy pictures haha. Will this be ok to sell as it is?

The only thing the SIM holds is your cellular account information. It does not contain any other personal information, but if you did not wipe this phone before putting into a drawer somewhere, it is very possible that it still has your information on it. Up to you how you wish to handle that. You might want to see about a cable to connect it to the computer to wipe the contents.

I guess I just want to know the worst that could happen.

Okay, worst case scenario. The person you sell the device to has a 30 pin connector cable, charges the device. You did not have a passcode on it, and this person can access everything on it, including your Apple ID. Given that old a device, not much they could download anymore from the App Store given the fact most are using higher iOS. Goes to the iTunes store, and uses your account to download tons of music.

Best case, you had a passcode and they cannot access any of your content.

Have a great day.
