UPDATE:
This only happens with my iPhone 6, when saving photo's from Whatsapp, Manually →
Open Whatsapp → open conversation → Media, Links and Docs (or within the tread) → open photo → tab Share symbol → Save → Home Button → open Photos → Photos appear under Collections 1 January 1980.
We did not fix it yet, but there may be some things you can try:
- Check / Reset time : Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically off and on again
- Check date & time : Settings → General → Language & Region → scroll to bottom → Check if format appears normal (this is not the actual date, just check if format is normal)
- Put iPhone off and on again
- Update iOs : Settings → General → Software update
- Take a new photo with your camera, check if time and date appear correct in Photos
- Save photo from another application or a screenshot, check if time and date appear correct in Photos
- Open Whatsapp: open conversation → Media Links and Docs → Open photo → tab Share symbol → Share → Save to Files (grey icon bottom line) → Home Button → open Files → open photo → check if date and time of recent saved photo is correct: title should be date and time of photo taken → tab Share symbol → Save → Home Button → open Photos → it should appear under TODAY (because you saved it from files today)
- Update Whatsapp: go to Appstore → update Whatsapp
- Back up conversations → Whatsapp → Settings → Chats → Chat backup → Back Up Now
- Reinstall Whatsapp : Uninstall Whatsapp → go to Appstore → Install Whatsapp → Restore back up
- Rest iPhone, set up as new iPhone (did not work for me as well, so maybe not even worth trying)
Everything looks solid, but manually saved photo's still appear under 1 January 1980?
Yeah, same her.
So for now, I'm again waiting for Whatsapp to reply.
For all the above, thank you Apple Helpdesk for your patience and creative thinking.
