Newly bought iPhone 7. When I plug my native lightning-headphones, I can hear a single beep in them and then nothing - sound continues through iphone's speakers. When I plug ordinary headphones through lightning adapter, everything's fine. Tried restarting iphone - didn't help. iOS is up-to-date. What else can I try before I go to the store?

Have you tried your "not working" headphones on another iPhone to see if its faulty?
Also make sure that your Lightning Port of your iPhone is clean, the pocket of your pants is a huge dust collector and even sand.

Just tried them with an iPad - same thing. Single beep on a plug-in and then it reverts to ipad's speakers. Ordinary headphones through lightning adapter work fine with the ipad too. Looks like it's the headphones...
Yes exactly, so now you isolated the problem by testing this on another device.
I would go to the Apple Store and ask them for a new pair of headphones while it's still under warranty.
