Copy ken burns end position to crop

Hello,

I'm trying to copy the end position of a Ken Burns crop to a regular crop, but no matter what I do it doesn't work. I know how to copy and paste attributes, but when I convert the Ken Burns to a regular crop it always takes the coordinates of the first position. This happens even if I swap start and end before converting it to a regular crop.

I'm trying to do a Ken Burns that then holds in place for the remainder of the clip. So, I split the clip in two, applied Ken Burns to the first part and am now trying to matching the crop of the second part to the end position of the Ken Burns.

Steps 5-7 of the response to this post seem to be what I need, but my version of FCPX (10.4) doesn't have the things that are mentioned in those steps. If I should be seeing what is described there, screenshots would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike

Well, I can only offer the same suggestion I did in there.

Do it all using the Crop tool.

Here is a brief summary of how you do Ken Burns without Ken Burns, and have the second clip start exactly as the first ended.

1a) In Clip 1, adjust the starting position with the Crop tool.

1b) Add a keyframe

2) In Clip 1, move the playhead to the end, and adjust as desired. (A keyframe is automatically added)

You now have your Ken Burns effect on clip 1

3) Select Clip 1, Copy; select Clip 2, Paste Attributes

4) In Clip 2, go to the first frame, delete the existing keyframe. This will make your Clip 2 match the cropping at the end of Clip 1. Readd a keyframe at that first frame of Clip 2, then go and change it last frame (just like in step 2).

DONE.
