In Photos, is there a way to delete imports and keep the photo?

I have imported a great many pictures that I place in my Photos file and various Albums. Is there a way to delete them from the imports file without getting rid of them altogether?

For example:

  • File > New smart album
  • Set the smart rule to "Date added is in the last ..."
