Using two external monitors - only mirroring each other

Hi!

I'm using a MacBook Pro 2017 with the Hyperdrive adapter at work. For external view, I use a Dell P2417h monitor using a HDMI cable and it works just fine.

The problem with connecting a second external monitor, an exact same model is that it just mirrors the first monitors screen - using a Displayport cable. I've looked in the screen and monitor settings and unchecked mirroring. The arrangement setting only shows the MacBook screen and the first external.

Is there a solution for this that I don't know of? Tried to google it but after 20 minutes i figured I'll ask here.

Setup:

- MacBook Pro 13 inch 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports

- 2x Dell P2417H

- Hyperdrive adapter (1 HDMI, 1 ThunderBolt 3, 1 DisplayPort, 1 USB-C, 2 USB-3, SD-card)

Could a possible reason be that I use two different cables?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

The maker has explicit instructions for this situation on their web site:

https://hypershop.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000161406-How-to-connecting-2 -monitors-in-extended-view-mode-

Executive Summary: REQUIRES the use of Thunderbolt/USB-C to display cable, NOT the built-in HDMI with a simple HDMI-HDMI cable.

Background information:

Most Hubs can only produce a DisplayLink signal (based on a software display buffer) for the second and subsequent display. This software display lis limited in many ways, including cannot be used for Extended desktop (at this writing).

This Hub uses TWO Thunderbolt-3 ports, but requires a ThunderBolt/USB-C to display cable to provide full, hardware-based second display support.
