Can't get rid of greyed out songs iTunes

Hey guys, for some reason my music app on iPhone got botched a while ago. Now alot of songs are greyed out, and I can't get rid of them. And to add injury to insult, I can't add songs from my macbook that have been greyed out on my iPhone (probably because my iphone thinks the song already on it?).

I have tried

- Deleting and redownloading the music app on iphone

- Delete all the songs through the iphone storage settings. This only seems to delete the songs that aren't greyed out.

- Deleting every album one by one in the music app. This only deletes the greyed out songs on the iphone, but they're still there in the itunes app on my macbook. And in the itunes app I can't seem to delete songs from my iphone. Also, eventually the greyed out songs will automaticly be put back on my iphone.

Additional info

- I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus on IOS 11.4

- My music app on iphone is up-to-date and so is my itunes app on macbook (12.7.5.9)

Hello and thank you for replying. I managed to find the solution.

After I made this thread, I started messing around with the settings, and the solution was:

Hook up the iphone to my mac -> itunes > User uploaded fileClick the phone icon on the right > Overview > scroll down and check the "Control music and video manually" box close to the bottom of the page.

(I translated it from dutch, so maybe it's named differently on the english itunes)

Hello potatoe2222,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that you're unable to play or remove grayed out songs on your iPhone 7 Plus. You've done a great job trying to get this resolved. I'm happy to help with this issue. Please review the steps and information below:

If some of your songs are missing or the song names appear in gray text

If songs that you bought are missing or the song names appear in gray text, they might use digital rights management (DRM). You need to authorize your computer before you can play these songs.

After you authorize, choose File > Library > Update iCloud Music Library from the menu bar at the top of your computer screen or the top of the iTunes window.

If you synced the songs that appear with gray text to your iOS device from a Mac or PC, turn on iCloud Music Library on that computer and your library should update.User uploaded file

If the issue persists, try signing out of your Apple ID temporarily, then sign back in. This will remove all downloaded Apple Music content from your device. To do this, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, then tap on your Apple ID at the top of the screen and choose "Sign Out". Once you're done, tap that area again to sign back in using your account credentials.

Let us know the results. Please include any additional troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a wonderful day!
