Console Login

I am attempting to enable >console log in, which I have used extensively in previous versions of OS X. I had to disable FileVault to enable login with username and password (why?). At the log in prompt I enter >console and attempt to log in, only to see a black screen. No text, no cursor identifier.

Has anyone tried this with 10.13? I am running 10.13.5 on a 2015 Retina MacBook Pro. I am suspect this has to do with recent security updates implemented in launchd.

I am not interested in single user or verbose login.

Thanks

You didn't need to disable FileVault.

The first login under FileVault is to decrypt the drive. FileVault adds extra magic to the process by then logging into the same user account that decrypted the disk. You can just log out of that user and have a normal login for the accounts on the disk.

I don't have any information on logging in as Console.
