Apps with touch ID on iPhone X

I have an iPhone 6 and I'm thinking of upgrading to am iPhone X. I have several apps that I open with touch Id using the fingerprint sensor in the home button instead of having to remember passwords. How does that work in an iPhone X that has no touch ID? Do these apps open with facial recognition?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Yes, Face ID takes the place of Touch ID, but it does depend on whether the developers have updated their apps to make use of Face ID, which they should have done by now. Apart from the App Store and iTunes I only have one app that uses Face ID, my banking app. There is a setting for Safari to use Face ID, but I haven't tried it as I don't need it. Otherwise Face ID works nearly 100% for me. If you do upgrade to an X you won't regret it, imho. Very expensive, I know, but I for one do not miss Touch ID or the home button. Hope this helps you! Regards, Ian.
