SAMSUNG LU28E590DS Fuzzy Screen

Hopefully some one will be able to help me out.

I have just brought a SAMSUNG LU28E590DS 28 inch monitor, and connecting it to my Macbook Pro (retina 15inch mid 2014) with Nvidia geforce GT 750m 2048mg graphics, 2.5ghz core i7, 16gb ram laptop

Im connecting it thought a display port with an adapter to fit in to the laptop, and the monitor is fuzzy and not crisp. If i connectthought an HDMI Cable its nice and crisp but there is delay with the mouse curser. Every now and again when i plug the display port in, i get a nice crisp image on the samsung monitor but it only lasts a few seconds.

If anyone can tell me how i can solve this i would be very grateful.
