Error while attempting to add avatar in Apple Communities profile

Any time I try and add an avatar in any way, I get an access denied, that I don't have access to the welcome screen.

I can reproduce the problem and provide more information if necessary. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has seen this or if there's a problem on the site at this time. (Nothing came up in a search.)

Please advise, thanks.

This is a known issue with the PAGE itself

- I can reproduce it merely by VISITING the page = nothing to do with choosing an avatar from the array of default choices

Others get this too -

I am unable to use ANY Community page for a period of about 10 minutes - then the rest of ASC magically clears up

ASC is undergoing a major overhaul - rewriting the SiteWare from scratch & implementing incrementally

(this is a huge mistake in strategy - I am a coder from way back and would never try to change the engine parts while the car is on the track racing)

That would make sense, needing to be at a higher level to have an avatar. However, the error message and not being able to get back on the site does not. I even cleared my browser's cache and tried another browser. After a while, I'd be able to get back in.

Nice link! Almost missed that. Glad to meet someone as high up as you are. Must be nice. 🙂

I would think the site developers would want to know about this problem?

Thanks a bunch, Chris.

Death Proof movie... I'll have to check that out!

You know, having this space, ASC, provides added value to an apple product. You guys (and hopefully myself eventually) provide free support. And it's designed to be fun! It ain't fun when I get this error, or that error, or I get logged out on one page but not another, etc. I go away! Today I'm back. Tomorrow? How many people don't come back or only come back when they have a need?

I'm sure there are many out there who have lots to offer in the way of experience in their Apple devices and products.

Yep, I really think it's in Apple's best interest to have a well oiled engine for ASC.

Um, Apple, sorry about the soap box thing. 😉

Death Proof is the Quentin Tarantino half of the Double Feature >

Grindhouse (2007) - IMDb

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462322/

Actually a two-part film with Kurt Russell as the character "Stuntman Mike" as the only common actor in both parts tying them together

Robert Rodriguez's half of Grindhouse is Planet Terror - Rose McGowan (TV's Charmed) is the star of that one

You "learn" to tolerate - or work around - ASC's shortcomings and bugs. Most are really just mildly annoying

ASC SiteWare is undergoing a rebuild from scratch - it has run on JiveSoftware for many years - the strategy is to roll the new stuff into the existing SiteWare as it is developed - I personally do not see how that can be anything but disastrous, but I don not run the zoo. 😉
