mbox 3rd gen disappeared from macbook pro

I have a macbook pro 2017 with 4 ports.

Up until today, I'd been using my mbox gen 3 with protools 2018 with no problem.

Today I needed to work on a project away from home, so had to go through some steps to get the pro tools aggregate working - I unfortunately can't recall what I did.

My old macbook pro always had 4 drop down choices from the sound/midi utility

-built in input

-built in output

-pro tools aggeregate

-mbox

now, I can have either the mbox visible, or the aggregate, but not both.

Any suggestions?

I have the up to date drivers - the light is glowing a solid blue, I've re-started my machine, but no mbox.

My OS is up to date.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, 4 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.5), pro tools 12 / 2018

update. this is the full list of all the steps I've taken:

When I got my new computer ( one month ago ) and plugged in mbox, the light was blinking.

I remembered I needed to install the drivers, so did that, and it all worked great.

Then today, for the first time I used the aggregate function, to use pro tools without the mbox.

In order to do this I had to:

Go into audio midi set up and select ‘add new device’ and then pro tools aggregate popped up as an option.

Now I can’t get it to recognize the Mbox again.

Steps I’ve taken:

Un-installed and re-installed the driver ( 3 times )

Turned the comp on and off

Unplugged and replugged in the Mbox

Gone into the playback engine - my only options are internal mic, internal speakers, and pro tools aggregate

Gone into system preferences - when I click on Avid Mbox, the virtual mixer comes up, but it says hardware not connected

Gone into audio midi set up and built in mic, built in output and pro tools aggregate i/o are listed

For some reason, they have stopped talking to each other and I can't figure out why.

Well now I know what some of my more technical answers must sound like to others.

I am not a sound guy, and never use anything more complex in this area than amplified headphones, so you are talking way over my head. I have no idea how all this stuff is supposed to present itself.

But when that happens, sometimes another place to ask is on the manufacturer's site, if they have a forum or an email answer/supports system or phone support.
