Why do I get a green cast on a burned DVD?

I am in the process of trying to burn a DVD. The colors all look fine in iMovie and iDVD preview but when I burn the DVD many of the colors wash out and there is a green cast to the picture. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Rick,

It sounds like a color space issue. See: iPhoto 6: Photos appear too dark or wrong color at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303459 and iPhoto 6 ColorSync options at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303146

Basically, iPhoto now pays attention to the color profile set by the camera - BUT - iDVD doesn't.

I think there is another KnowledgeBase article on the issue but I can't find it.

Sue - help?

If that were the issue, why would the iDVD preview look fine. The color only gets messed up when I burn the DVD. Could the brand of DVD I am using make a difference?

Because your monitor is calibrated with some ColorSync profile - your TV set (and Apple's DVD player) isn't.

I can assure you that iDVD DO NOT change the color of content. See my pages: http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/color_bars/colorbars.htm and http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/gray_patches/graypatches.htm

I appreciate your time in helping me solve this but I still haven't got any clue how to fix the problem. I am using a brand new MacBook 2.0 GHZ system with 1 GB ram installed. I have the latest system updates installed.

Rick:

You are creating the slideshow in iMovie from photos in iPhoto and then Sharing to iDVD, right?

If not all of the images show this color shift can you identify any difference between them and those that don't? Were they processed any differently? Check to see if any are the Adobe RGB profile. As F Shippy requested can you can post both a good and bad image file, full sized, so we can download and examine them to see if we can see anything different between the two.

What playback quality do you have set in iMovie's preferences?
