iPhone Contacts/Text Appearing as Numbers
I have an iPhone 6. It's got the latest iOs software. All of my contacts are housed through my firm's outlook exchange (no gmail or icloud contacts).
For some reason, over the past few days, two (possibly related) issues are arising: (a) my contact, which is the lead contact in my contacts, keeps dropping from the Contacts section of the phone (the one at the top, where all of my information is and my initials are in the bubble), and so I have to go into settings, contacts, and re-add my contact under My Information for it to reappear. Second, and this has happened before several months ago, for some reason my message texts are showing up as phone numbers in the messages, not as names, though when you click on the phone number it shows the person's initials in the bubble in the corner; but when you click on that it takes you to a blank contact screen. In other words, the text is not synching with the contact so that the text shows up as a name; rather, simply as a phone number. This is maddening, and I've tried everything from turning off/on MMS messaging, turning off/on iMessage, reloading a contact to see if that clears it; etc. Worse, since I have notifications (even on the lock screen), when I get a text, the notification screen shows the name and then when I open the messaging app, it automatically converts the text back to the phone number from the name. and then to make it worse, sometimes the name will show up with a "Maybe" before it, even though the contact is clearly in my contacts.
Can someone help with this?
