MacBook Pro can’t find any WiFi networks

Hi.

today I got my MacBook Pro 13” late 2016 back from battery repair. It’s all seemed good but then I noticed it can’t detect any WiFi networks.

i ran diagnostic of software and hardware and it said it’s all good.

also I tried to connect it to my iPhone via hotspot.

ussally the iPhone aotumaticly shows is the WiFi menu but now it didn’t, except for a few seconds than it disappears.

instead I had to manually turn on hotspot, it shows my iPhone but can’t connect to it.

also I restored my Mac from backup from before the battery fix and still no change.

Before I take it back to them to fix it, is there any thing else I can try to fix it by my own?

if you are within a dozen feet or so from your Router (but not closer than about three feet) and hold the Option key while you click on the Wi-Fi icon on the menubar, the SSID or signal value should be less that (closer to zero than) -50dB.

A high number (say, -80) strongly suggests a disconnected antenna lead -- very easy to overlook when doing a major repair like battery replacement.

my example -62 above reads like from 30 or 40 feet away, but still serviceable. -80 or -90 is not usable.

The wifi antenna may not be working correctly. I would take it to whoever repaired it and ask them if they reinstalled everything correctly.

When you open system preferences and go to network, are your wifi settings on and set to autojoin?

It’s says wireless is on but isn’t connected to the internet.

Below it there’s “network name” and no network I can choose from.

The auto join option is grey and unavailable

I noticed that only when my iPhone is super close or the router is super close to the Mac it can detect it. Still can’t connect to the network. Not manually too

All the pages I am finding are about joining a wifi network and your issue seems deeper than that. I will continue to try and find something that will help.
