editing video in iMovie
When I play the MP4 video I've made in quicktime player it plays fine, but then when I drag it over into iMovie to edit it, it is choppy. The audio is completely fine. Only the video is choppy.
MacBook Pro, iOS 10.3.1

So you imported the original video into Quicktime and it plays fine. You then dragged the original clip ( not a Quicktime export) into an iMovie event and it plays choppy. Is that correct? I see the clip is 60fps. If iMovie is playing it at 30fps this would cause the choppiness. Try importing the clip into iMovie using the import window and create a new project. Drag the clip from the media browser into the timeline. This should set the project to 60fps anit should play smoothly.

What is the source of the video? What does the Quicktime inspector say for video codec? Was the source originaly MP4 or did you convert it. Try importing into iMovie instead of drag and drop. Where are you dragging from?
The source of the video is a samsung DSLR camera, MPEG-4 movie. I've imported videos from this camera before and edited in iMovie and didn't have this problem. I dragged it from a file folder that I'd made specifically for the video. I have also tried first dragging the video onto desktop, then dragging from there into iMovie "new event" bar and had the same problem.
