I see the upgrade to iPhoto 9.6.1 but can't upgrade

Hello,

I have owned several mac products since 2001 and I am sooo frustrated in trying to update iPhoto 9.4.3 from iLife 11 DVD to 9.6.1 so that I can retrieve missing movies and photos that DID NOT transfer properly in Photos. Since iPhotos is dead I had to purchase the iLife DVD to get iPhotos 9. Mind you I paid for 3 other macbook pros in the past with iPhotos plus a G# and Mac tower in the past. I plan on working with only Photos in the future but my mac App Store shows the upgrade but is not allowing me to...

It states "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."

Now I have been using the same account since 2001 and yes I DID change my email/password at some point and I dont remember when but for being an Apple user for 17 years I am very disappointed.

Now, if I can see version 9.6.1 in my update, but not in my purchases, why can I not use this upgrade????

I need a resolution. I have paid thousands upon thousands for 17 years and all I need is this upgrade to retrieve movies and photos from iPhoto that show a blank icons in Photos. Apple can see my Apple ID has existed for 17 years so why can't I upgrade!

If I can't go back to iPhotos that means I LOST my photos and movies because iPhoto 9.4.3 is not supported by Yosemite 10.10.5!

HELP!

MacBook Pro, 10.10.5 Yosemite

This has nothing to do with your email and password. Unfortunately you missed the boat.

Once 10.6.8 came along, updates to iPhoto became a function of the App Store. There was a period (almost 2 years) where you could associate an iPhoto 9 with the App Store regardless of where you bought it. That all passed several years ago. Of course iPhoto has not been on sale/updated or anything for more than 3 years now. So, bad news.

You can, of course, simply recover the originals from the Library package.

Right click on it and select 'Show Package Contents. That will open a window at the Contents folder, within that you'll find one called 'Originals' or 'masters' (varies depending on the version). Your photos as downloaded from the camera are within.

Which system version have you been running before you upgraded to Yosemite?

If you have a Time Machine backup from before you upgraded, you may want to restore your Mac to the previous version, where iPhoto 9.4.3 has still been running . That may allow you to repair your iPhoto Library and to export all photos and videos you need to save. Then repeat the upgrade to Yosemite.

Thank you, I found contents packages and was wondering..... in Photos Library the Modified and Original folders have the Alias arrow to these folders where the iPhoto Library does not. I figured that since Photos got its files from iPhoto. But if I go through and make sure I have everything in Photos Library (including hopefully finding my missing files) as I do in the iPhotos Library can I uninstall iPhotos and its library? I was thinking moving the iPhotos Library Modified and Original folders to Photos Library so no Alias folders then uninstalling iPhotos to get rid of caches and other stuff taking up space on my hard drive.......?

Thats a good idea but I dont feel like going through that... from what I read certain movie files do not import into Photos anyway so to make this as quick and simple I am going through the Modified and Original folders for iPhotos and Photos and confirming I will have all my files before uninstalling iPhotos even if I have to manually place any unreadable files Photos doesn't like in a separate folder somewhere on my mac. It is time to clean up my mac anyway! Thanks again!
