Accessibility Keyboard on Login Screen

I am trying to activate the Accesibility Keyboard so it appears on the login screen.

I am aware you can press Opt-Cmd-F5 at the login screen and switch it on from the accessibility menu that appears BUT if you are using a head mouse because you have no hand/ arm function you cannot press Opt-Cmd-F5.

Is there a way of having the Accesibility Keyboard appear immediately on the login screen so I can use it to enter User Name and Password?

Note: The accessibility Keyboard does appear on the screen if you activate the Lock Screen instead of logging out, so you can get back in from here.

Any ideas on how to get the keyboard so you can log in after a restart or logout?

I also tried to see if Siri can be added to the lock screen but it cannot be. Everything I saw says "touch here" so that is not going to work. You can create a custom shortcut though which seems like something to pursue.

Hi Welafever,

Yes siri on the home screen would be nice too - not sure if that opens up some security issues though.

There is a gap in Apples accessibility offering when you cannot get past the login screen without getting someone to do it for you. Windows have solved it by making the keyboard available on the login screen. Hopefully someone at Apple will pick up on it soon.

I've requested this from Apple for a while. It would also be useful to have touch id available, whilst I can't move my hands it would be a lot more secure for my support worker to put my finger on touch id than tell them my login password.

Thanks for that suggestion Gizmo. That has some advantages in that you don't have to share your passwords with your carer/supporter.

I believe some of the Mac books have touch id for login.

Not quite independence however - would be nicer if you could do it all yourself !

My Macbook pro has touch id but it only works after you are logged in, it can be used when waking from sleep. Seems crazy that the OS can't bring it up at start up.

I'm going to miss KeyStrokes as I am sure that they could of developed a way to do it.
