Are there receivers that work with Airplay 2?

Are there receivers that work with Airplay 2? I have an Apple TV 4th gen., and rather than having to use an airport express, I’d like to stream directly to a WiFi connected stereo receiver.

There are receivers that work with AirPlay, and have been for some time. Nice for Macs, iPhones and iPads playing music. But that should matter very little to Apple TV, as receivers, TVs, and Apple TV are all HDMI connected.

It seems to me that AirPlay 2 is geared towards people that do not invest in a dedicated receiver and surround setup or huge speakers.

I'm talking about stereo receivers, not AV receivers. I'd like to know if there are any stereo receivers that are network receivers and Airplay 2 ready. If there are not, are there dongles available, since the Airport Express supports Airplay, but not Airplay 2, the difference being that Airplay 2 allows simultaneous play to multiple rooms. To be clear, I'm trying to stream from Apple Music app on a 4th gen. Apple TV to multiple rooms in my house, without buying all new stereo equipment. An Airplay 2 WiFi dongle with analog out (3.5 stereo mini to R/L RCA) would be ideal. I can already stream, via 3 Airport Express' to one room at a time.

To answer your question, as of now there are no AirPlay 2-capable receivers available, nor any AirPlay 2 dongles of any sort. Currently the only 3rd party AirPlay 2-capable devices are a few Sonos speaker models (announced this week).

The only solution for your situation today would be 4th generation Apple TVs to serve as AirPlay 2 targets for the source Apple TV (4th gen), but that'd get expensive 😮
