Selling an iPhone

Hi

having reset my old IPhone to its original factory status; is it now ok to sell the Iphone? or do I need to tell the original mobile network provider first (due to the old registered IMEI etc). The handset is fully paid for of course.

cheers

Just remove the sim card from the sim tray. You do not need to tell the network provider anything at this point.

If the iPhone is locked to that provider, you may want to ask them to unlock it if they offer that option so any new buyer can use it with any provider they want.

Otherwise, just make sure to tell the buyer that it is locked to a specific provider.

Yep, thanks Larry.

I completed the factory reset. My question was related to whether I needed to contact the original network provider before selling on the phone. I’ve since found out that the mobile unlocks automatically after 18 months from first purchase. But thanks for your reply

(And thanks again to Phil for his response)

Found out from whom?

That is not a normal thing.

iPhone's don't generally unlock automatically like that.

If your network provider does this on its own, its entirely on them. But don't rely on such a thing happening as a matter of fact.
