iMessage picture sending is slow (iOS 11.4.1)

Hi,

Since iOS 11.4.1 sending pictures in iMessage is (sometimes) very slow. It takes up to 2 Minutes until the message is sent. text is fast as well using another message app and sending a picture is fast as well...

Well I made some tests and I'd like of someone can try to reproduce it and confirm:

My mobile carrier provides dualStack (ipv4 & ipv6 addresses)

My home cable provider supports ipv4 only but I configured a 6in4 tunnel so I also have dual stack at home.

I have an iPhone 7, my wife has an iPhone SE. But she has another mobile carrier that does not provide dual stack. If she is in our home wifi (with dual stack) sending is slow. If she is outside, everything works well.

For me, at home or on travel I have slow sending...

So I made the test: I disabled the ipv6 tunnel at home: And voila: Our life's fine again, Sending pictures via iMessage went fast.

Now my assumption: Something correlated to IPv6 or only in dual stack mode makes sending pictures in iMessage slow.

Can someone confirm?

I already have an open support case but I guess they won't hear me and tell me things like hard reset or something similar... --> but I have 3 devices under different network conditions proofing this is not just magic what I found. 🙂

What I was not able to test:

- in a ipv6 only network

- in another dual stack network than the named two.

- under 11.4.0 or other iOS versions
