can't update OS 10.8.5 to later through the app store

Hi there,

I've read on all the post that for me to update from 10.8.5 to later version of OS, I just need to go to the app store and download the update.

However, when I search in the app store, most app does not come up (even simple ones like photo), and I'm based in NZ region. If I go "updates" in the app store, there is nothing in there either.

I can't update to the latest version as my computer is too old (imac early 2008 version), so I'm really stuck.

I hope someone can help.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

You need to update the information from another computer or an iOS device. If you don’t have access to either, click here and contact Apple.

the link finally works! nothing OS releated was coming up in search before so this helps. HOWEVER, next issue: I can't update coz there is no billing info due to older OS, but can't update coz I got no billing info. Any suggestions?
