Apple TV 4K and External Storage

Hi,


I've been using an Android Box device to stream my contents (music, videos, photos) from an external harddrive using USB port.

As Apple TV 4K does not have USB port what are the solution I have to be able to stream my contents through Apple TV? Do you have any other solution or do you know any harddisk type that work with APPLE TV 4K?

I don't mind to buy an external harddrive use LAN connection like Wester Digital My Cloud Drive

I'm talking of a total of 3.4TB of data so, it can't be placed in iCloud.

Your storage needs to be accessible over the network.

  • Apple’s solutions center around iTunes Home Sharing, which requires all media files to be linked to the iTunes Library on a computer running iTunes.
  • There are also some third party media player apps for Apple TV, that have their own solution outside of iTunes. E.g. Plex, MrMC, Infuse, PlayerXtreme, and even VLC. Some want to connect to a server application, while others can browse SMB shares without a server app. Some focus on videos, less so for music, but the inclusion of photos is rare.
