How do I change the ID people see when I call them?

When I make a call with my iPhone, it shows up on the recipient's phone as "Stu's iPhone." Where can I change it so that it's my actual name?

Already tried that. I was able to change the name, but it didn't change what shows up on other people's caller ID.

For your phone

About Nicknames

Contacts are listed with First, Last, and Company fields, but you can add a Nickname field. If you have Prefer Nicknames on and the contact has a nickname, you'll see the nickname entry.

To add a nickname:

  1. Open the Phone app and tap Contacts.
  2. Tap the contact you want to view, then tap Edit.
  3. Scroll down and tap add field > Nickname.
  4. Add a nickname and tap Done.

To remove a nickname:

  1. Open the Phone app and tap Contacts.
  2. Tap the contact you want to view, then tap Edit.
  3. Remove the nickname.
  4. Tap Done.

Similarly, that change would occur on that person's phone.

Just be lucky the other phone recipient did not use something more colorful. See also this kluge

That would only seem to work if the other person has chosen to prefer nicknames. Also, I would expect "Stu's iPhone" to show up as a nickname in the contact labeled "me."

"Stu's iPhone" even appears in landline caller IDs. I tried adding a nickname to myself as a contact and it didn't make a difference. When I go to Settings>Apple ID, my phone is listed as "Stu's iPhone," but I don't see a way to change it, and I'm not sure why it would choose that as my caller ID name.

That doesn't seem to help, either. I've restarted the phone. I thought it might be that my number is stored in other people's phones or that their landline caller IDs have memory, but we're getting some work done on the house, and I'm calling contractors who wouldn't have received calls from me before. They tell me it still says "Stu's iPhone."
