My MacBook Pro 2018 version speakers are crackling.

Hello. A few days ago I got the new MacBook Pro 2018 15in version. I’ve noticed since yesterday that my MacBook Pro speakers were crackling randomly. I’m not sure if since this is a new release that there are bugs in the software or if it’s an actual defect. Because before yesterday, I haven’t experienced this issue. I resetted the NVRAM and did a diagnostics test with no issues. After about 10 minutes of use that’s when it does it. Then stops. I think I might hopefully but not hopefully have to get it replaced since it’s under the warranty still. I did nothing to it. So this is dissapointing to me.

Hey! I had the same issue. I think I've managed to fix it by making sure that my MIDI output is set to 48.000 Hz. Go to Audio MIDI Setup settings, under Macbook Pro Speakers set the output to 48.000 Hz if its anything else (like 44). You might have a software installed that has changed the Hz value (and possibly some other under-the-hood sound settings as well). So far it has fixed the issue to set it back. I have not yet updated to Mojave, but has installed all updates up until that. See picture below.

I've found that I don't have to fully restart the app, just ctrl+tab or cmnd+tab (depending on OS) to leave the app and stop the sound for a second. I think it's an issue with continuous speaker usage so that pause fixes it (only temporarily ofc)

Edit: I've only noticed this problem while in Windows Bootcamp, macOS is perfect for me

You know the sad thing is they are actually saying they havent heard about this issue. The told me that it was my time machine back up which was the issue. but you know They gave me a new laptop on wednesday and on thursday it started crackling again so i decide to back up my back , wipe it to factory settings and then try and see if i could hear anything and sadly i haven't heard anything yet which makes me wonder what the **** i am going to say to the Apple tech when i see him.

OKAY so i just got back form the apple store where i had an appointment with the Apple Genius bar technician. Now i have had this issue for awhile , got a replacement laptop and basically because its a problem that only happens every now and then i will let you all now that when i went in i couldn't prove the sound BUT the technician said to be that were many forums and people saying that they were having this issue BUT because apple havent released a statement about it yet nothing can be done. They are still trying to tell me that it could be my time machine back up and they told me that i must try an restart my laptop as a new one and i said thats absolute rubbish that i pay this amount to loose my data and start from scratch. ANYWAYS his opinion one what i should do is "wait it out"

It’s not a hardware issue. It’s down to software. I’ve been using my mb pro 2018 for the last month and there’s only ever a problem with sound when I’m using blender and even then it’s very infrequent which suggests it’s a software bug. Once I close blender the problem goes away and I’ve been playing music and steaming off YouTube with no problems for hours on end.

Hopefully it will be fixed once Mojave is released.

Hello from Russia! The same problem with the official MacBook Pro 15" 2018, 2.6 GHZ, 560X, which I purchased from the official Apple reseller in Russia three days ago. I don't work with Bootcamp or logic Pro. But I have Adobe Premiere pro 2018, and this problem appeared in it.
After about 40 minutes of work in Adobe Premiere speakers start to rattle, the sound starts to lag and repeat. If you immediately restart the Premiere, the problem disappears for some time and does not apply to the entire system. But if you work with this problem for another 10-15 minutes, the problem begins to manifest itself in other conventional programs, where there is sound, in the browser, in YouTube, in a music or video player on the computer. And then it helps only to restart the computer.

Called in Russian support of Apple, there is about this issue heard and know, but officially can't say for sure, because the authorities in America is silent. Offer to carry a computer in service, to make the diagnosis and to look for technical solution. And this is three days after buying a brand new device!

Before that, 5 years used MacBook Pro 15, late 2013, and there were no such problems at all.

I read all the messages from this branch and decided not to carry the computer to the service yet, try to use the options that are offered here. Or wait for a new operating system, suddenly everything will be repaired.

In general, not only in your countries the problem with this model of MacBook Pro... And this very strange!

Daniel please contact Official Apple Support and tell them!

It's of no use if you come on this support forum without mentioning to Apple Support because they do not look at this.

And if you contact them they can escalate it to the appropriate team and at least let the engineers know!!

Please do it as soon as you wish. It will benefit not only you but the others too.
