Pages - print black & white

When I use other apps on the Mac - I have a printer feature in my printer settings that allows me to select black & white printing under an option called COLOR MODE.

When I use the exact same printer in PAGES I do not have this option.

Does anyone know how to force PAGES to print in black & white/greyscale only?

We are moving from MS Publisher to Pages and this problem reared its ugly head immediately.

I'm running the latest released version of OS X and have all the updates from Apple for PAGES, etc. We use a Ricoh MP C2503 and the Postscript PPD file for it.

May we have the exact versions of Pages and macOS you are using. "Latest" is vague and sometimes wrong.

I am using a Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CP105b in Pages 7.1 in macOS Sierra 10.12.6.

Black and White is under Printer Features in the print dialogue.

Have you checked that your Printer Driver is the latest available (Ver.3.1.0.0) from Ricoh's website and rated for, I assume in your case, High Sierra?

I’ll have to get the exact versions later but as I mentioned in my original post the option in the printer driver exists when NOT using Pages but disappears when printing from Pages. The option normally exists under printer features as you mentioned. I do have the latest driver from Ricoh vs 3.1.0.

It seems that Pages isn’t allowing it.

I did workaround it and it isn’t ideal by printing to preview where the option reappears and can print from there. Maybe that is the best that can be hoped for but seems Pages could do better.

It isn't Pages as such, there are incompatibilities with printer drivers, usually fixed by Printer Driver updates.

As I have said I get the option with Pages 7.1 using my Printer Driver in macOS Sierra.

Apple, as with many things lately (lack of money and resources?) is failing to write their software with the advisable abstraction of the App from the hardware, leading to such repeated problems.
