Hi everybody, I'm going to replace my hdd (1Tb fusion drive) in the Fusion Drive with an internal ssd.
After installing it should I fuse or unfuse the drives? Should I unfuse them before installing the new drive?

Then you don't need what a fusion drive offers, you have a real large fast drive coming, not an modest approximation using fusion.
There are many different setups for different models.
what model Mac, exactly, by year, early mid late, and screen size and processor speed?

Recent iMac up grades can be very complex, and some would say, "impossible".

A fusion drive is made by combining a large, slow drive with a fast, small SSD, hoping to get a moderately fast large drive out of the combination.
what are you keeping and what are you replacing?
You might get better performance overall by using a larger SSD (now more affordable than when fusion drives were introduced) as the boot drive, and the larger slower drive as just a data drive.
