how do i get rid of the cresent moon next to a contacts name in my text messages

The crescent moon you see is the indication that you have "Do Not Disturb" on for that chat. But no worries, we can help you fix that! You want to go to your Messages app and select the chat where the crescent moon appears, don't go inside the chat, though. Click the chat, but don't let go, and swipe left; let go and then select the purple icon that says "Show Alerts."
