Pairing pencil to iPad 6th generation

Done the usual, charged, Bluetooth on, plugged it in......nothing. Switched iPad off. Switched it on again. Removed pencil and re-inserted........nothing. It’s not listed, recognised and I have no way of knowing if it’s charging. Is it a dud?

Are you sure you have a 2018, 6th gen iPad?

Have you checked to make sure the tip of the Apple Pencil is screwed on securely?

If you have a new 2018 iPad and Apple Pencil, bring both into your “local” Apple Store.

If your current Pencil is faulty, Apple should replace your Apple Pencil for free.

Test the new Pencil in the store with your own 2018, 6th gen iPad.
