WEIRD issue I'm having. Suddenly my FCPX 10.4.3 preview window is extremely dark. Doesn't matter what clip, what project, etc. It's isolated to Final Cut and it's isolated to the viewer. The preview thumbnails look correct, but when you click on them to play/preview, they play back super dark. Any ideas?? Already tried trashing preferences twice.

I’m confused about what viewers you’re talking about. In the import window? After you import?
The top image looks like a LOG recording and the bottom one looks like it has a LUT applied. It might be the wrong LUT. FCP will assign some LUTs automatically.
After I import. You're correct - it is a log image. But there is no LUT applied. The lighter image is the LOG footage as it should appear – it's the thumbnail of the image in the browser. The darker is how it appears in the preview window in Final Cut Pro X when I play it. No LUTs applied, no effects. And it's the same on every clip in my library, regardless of file type / etc. The files themselves are fine – they play normally outside of Final Cut. So it's isolated to the Final Cut viewer. WEIRD
All clips have the issue. It's not the clips themselves. They open fine in FCPX / any other program outside FCPX. Every clip I import does this in FCPX. Old / new / different formats / images / everything.
Same thing for me. It’s not just the preview window with all clips that shows them normal but when click on them or hovering over then they go dark. But it’s also the main preview window of the timeline that shows totally bad exposure and wack colors.
UPDATE: based on a search on this topic, I tested out exporting/rendering a clip from the timeline, and it renders normally/correctly. So it's further confirming that it's just some weird bug with the preview / viewing windows in Final Cut.
FIXED!!!! Updated to OSX 10.13.6 and issue is resolved. Must have been a weird incompatibility between FCPX 10.3.4 and OSX 10.13.5. Thanks for all the replies, appreciated! Hopefully this solves it for the others who were having this issue.
Here are 2 images - one is the thumbnail preview of a clip (how it should look) and the other is how it looks in the viewer. Why???
Yes, no LUT applied.
Here's another 2 images – BOTH from the browser window. The image gets darker when I mouse over it in the browser.
You’ve checked in the inspector that FCP hasn’t applied a built in LUT?
It says Lumix. What camera is this? Could you upload a piece of the media somewhere?
It's a GH5. I should also say – this is a new issue. FCPX worked perfectly fine for this exact same footage until today.
4K? 8-bit, 10-bit? Optimized?
And again – it's not isolated to this clip. It's every clip in every library. Even still images do the same thing. So it's definitely a FCPX thing.
This specific clip is 4k 10-bit (non-optimized) but again... the same thing happens with every clip, regardless of where it's from. It's a new issue that is affecting all my videos.
