Lost iPhone and can't remember Apple ID password.

A relative has lost her iPhone and can't remember her Apple ID password to log in and use the Find My Phone feature.


Should we reset the password? I am wondering if that will mess up the Find My iPhone feature so that even when we log in it won't (at that point) be useful.
