Nice post Kurt.

People don't seem to understand the terminology these days... I blame it on the proliferation of computers and their penetration into everyday life, and the fact that there seems to be no perceived need to actually understand what they are and how they work.

I agree, it's a great post.

Apple was a big part of making computers "easy" enough for everyone, even the technically un-inclined. Problem is, they still do require learning some skills. But, I shouldn't talk. I know how to drive a car but, if something goes wrong, I'm tend to want to cry. 🙂

Don't feel bad about that. I used to wrench on my own cars all the time... back when everything that needed to be done could be accomplished with nothing more than a socket set, a couple of screwdrivers, a crescent wrench, and a pair of pliers... now... I look under the hood and say, oh h... no.... I'm going to pay the dealer to change the oil.

Fact is, you know how to drive. You know what the brakes do, probably how to work a clutch and gearshift, put fuel in it, washer fluid, etc... in the computing world, it seems like lots of people can't even figure out where the ignition is, much less steer around a corner.
