How to undo damage from cleaning screen

I stupidly used Windex electronics wipes to clean the screen of my Mac.

Now it is streaky and cloudy. Is there any way to undo this damage? I tried using a microfiber cloth with and without plain distilled water. Still streaky. I also read in online forums that plain white vinegar might help. But am afraid to cause further damage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If your MacBook Pro is a Retina version, the fix requires an entire new upper case unit, display and all. The Retina's display/upper case assembly is one piece--you can't get just part of it. That could be in the US$600 range based on posts I've seen here.

If you have regular AppleCare it will not cover that type of damage. AppleCare Plus may. It comes down to whether Apple considers this accidental or deliberate damage. This is what the official Apple conditions for AppleCare Plus:

Chances are that using Windex has already damaged the screen on your MBP beyond what can be reversed. Apple only recommends using damp lint-free cloth with water.

At this point, it may still be possible to reverse the damage, but as you know, you can make it worse using "advice" from the Internet. Regardless, if you can't get the screen back to what is useable for you, you may need to get it replaced ... and the cost of doing so will vary greatly depending on, whether or not, you elected to purchase an extended AppleCare+ service plan and it is still active.
