Apple TV and Airplay

My appleTV stops streaming as soon as my phone goes into auto lock. I don't currently see a way to disable auto lock but read where If I plug in my phone it should continue to stream. I'm running the latest iOS 11.4.1. Is there some other way to disable auto lock? I thought there was a 'never' setting but it only seems to range in steps from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. It's kind of annoying. It seems the phone should know when you are streaming and allow it work even when locked.

I will attempt the plugging in scenario.

Thanks,

Mark

No need to do all that! I found the solution to the missing "NEVER" option in auto lock. Apparently if you hav Exchange setup as a mail client then the NEVER option is removed. I work as a gov't contractor and NASA is removing our exchange access anyway so I just removed it and now have the "NEVER" option back. Not sure why having an Exchange client would matter but hey I'll try the stuff again this evening and see if it resolved my problem.

Thanks,

Mark

When setting the Auto-Lock feature to a short time, it does affect the screen and lock, but it doesn’t affect AirPlay. That will go on after that time has elapsed. Therefore I think that is not the issue here. (Although I do find it weird that you have no ‘Never’ setting.)

Something’s wrong with your iOS, and we’re not getting much closer to pinpointing exactly what. Consider making a backup with iTunes, reinstall iOS through iTunes as a new device, and have iTunes put the personal content back from the backup. Hopefully it will get you your full lock settings back, as well as fix this AirPlay issue. It is a lot of work, but a frustrating device costs loads of mental energy.

Using iOS 11.4.1 on a 6S+

Wish the never sleep option was available.

Currently, it has a setting of 30 seconds up to 5 minutes.

Lots of web content has embedded videos with the AirPlay (Apple TV) enabler.

I had this problem a month or so ago and was told by plugging in my phone it would not sleep.

It is very frustrating when trying to show a video through the Apple TV.
