Question

My iTunes keeps opening.

My iTunes keeps opening and playing music. Its very annoying and I can't get it

to stop. Please help.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with iTunes staring up on its own and I am happy to help out! I recommend starting by taking a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, check to see if the issue is still happening.

Hi,

This problem is becoming obnoxious. iTunes continuously opens itself up and starts playing music. The only way to ignore the problem is to shut off the volume. Why is iTunes doing this? No other app 'insists' on being open all the time.

Hi,

Thanks for responding to my iTunes problem. We put the system into safe mode. This did stop iTunes from opening randomly and playing music from my playlists. However, although I am able to open iTunes, I cannot play music and the volume does not work at all. Any suggestions?
