"Notes" field in Contacts keeps jumping upwards during entry

My work requires me to make many phone calls with hundreds of contacts. I keep detailed notes on my contacts so that I can remember what we had discussed in the last conversation. This used to work great, but the last couple of months, whenever I'm taking notes, the field will jump, the curser will no longer be in the notes, or it might be in another part of notes making changes were I don't want them. The problem is the worst if I try to highlight any text to copy or to delete.

I actually found a work-around for this situation. I had been just typing in the notes section, as I'd always done before. I just discovered that if, instead, I press the "edit" button first, as if editing the contact information, it doesn't glitch like this.

You might need to reinstall the OD since it is happening in another admin account and the Safe Mode.

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair Disk and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
