I want to mark an Apple Pencil for my child who is going off to college. Will the heat from the laser damage the electronics in the pencil? Keep in mind it will only penetrate about .005 inches deep( a hair). Thanks

It will potentially damage the Apple Pencil and is most definitely not recommended by Apple. I would try using a label maker.

I wouldn't take the chance of exposing my phone number to potentially hundreds of strangers. How about a case for your iPad that'll also hold the pencil?
