not getting mail notification sound

Hello, I recently noticed I had not been getting a notification sound from Mail when an email comes in. New Messages Sound is active in the General tab of Preferences. Restarting after closing and quitting Mail does not help. Thanks!

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

In the Notifications pane of System Preferences, uncheck the Do Not Disturb boxes.
