piano roll octaves garageband

While working on a garageband project recently I noticed that the piano keys, that run top to bottom on the left hand side of the piano roll editor, had increased in width and as a result there were less octaves being displayed and all the notes within the editor were wider too.

This hasn't affected the functioning of the piano roll but it's really annoying as I'm not used to it and it feels really clunky and ugly.

I've noticed that older projects are still displaying the piano roll in the style to which I'm accustomed (with multiple octaves).

Does anyone know how to change this display back to the original factory settings without effecting anything else?

I phoned the Apple helpline about this. He knew nothing about the problem, and suggested that I buy a new laptop.

On my laptop screen I can now see less than three full octaves, previously it was over five.

I have found that the vertical axis is always zoomed in with new projects, but opening an old project created in the previous version is usually OK.

So I have been saving a copy of an old project, deleting the content, and starting afresh.

Usually this works, but not always.

That is great idea.

Apple Support should know better than that. Many users are complaining about the new the size of the piano roll since GarageBand 10.3.1 came out. I am seeing the same on all three Macs that have the new GarageBand version installed.
