A Document Map for Pages

To the Developers of Pages for Mac:

Why isn't Pages for Mac one of the top-notch word proccing applications for the Mac platform?

In my opinion, I have an answer to that question and I'm sure others have made pointed this out before.

To start, Pages for Mac lacks a lot of features that other word processing applications such as Microsoft Office, LibreOffice and OpenOffice have. Pages for Mac is handy for typing simple letters and handling small printing needs, but it fails when it comes to large files.

One of the reasons why I don't use the Pages application often is because it doesn't have a certain feature that I require when I'm working on a project. The main feature in question is Document Map. Why isn't this option available in Pages for Mac? Pages have the page thumbnail view, to allow the user to view all the pages in the current document... So why not have a feature to show all the headings in the document? Well? What's the hold up on that?

To go into a scenario why this option is needed and useful is this. When a user launches Pages and opens a 400-page document. The document loads and you need to find a certain chapter heading in the document. The Page Thumbnail viewer isn't helpful in this matter and using the Find Command could be tedious, depending on how many times the term you are looking for is used in the document. If Pages had the document map feature, this view could be turned on and the user could just scroll through the available headings used in the document to quickly get to the chapter heading/page and do what's needed in the document. See how simple that could be?

When I use other applications, I get work completed quicker, compared to how much time it takes for me to do it in Pages, mainly because of this small feature being missing. Developers, you may feel this isn't a needed feature for Pages, but as a writer, I feel this is the MAIN reason why I choose Microsoft Word and LibreOffice over Pages because these applications have that one feature that Pages doesn't. Want me to be a dedicated Pages user, get me that Document Map feature.

Thanks for your time...
