Question

Macbook air + bluetooth headphones "no output controls"

Since recent software update(s) to my macbook air (early 2015), my Beats By Dre solo wireless 2 headphones are not automatically recognised as audio output.

When I connect my headphones to my macbook, the sound quality is terrible, it seems that it is not recognised as an output device but as an input device.

Whenever I try to adjust this in my sound settings I see the following.

As can be seen; somehow there are no output controls available anymore? Normally you should be able to adjust the volume there left/right balance etc

I have these headphones + macbook for some years now and they've always worked.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem and get my headphones automatically recognised as Audio Output again?

Hey joerifromcolijnsplaat,

If I understand correctly, you have solo wireless 2 headphones connected to your Mac, but they do not have the output settings in the Sound preferences. One thing you could do is unpair the device from the Bluetooth System Preferences and then connect them again. If you are just powering them back on and they are connecting, this may reset the issue they are having.

If your headset isn’t in the list, try pairing with it again. See the documentation that came with your headset for information about pairing your headset with your Mac.

Hey MoonJ!

Thanks for the reply! I have tried what you advised to do but too bad it did not solve it 😐.

I did reset my headphones and the bluetooth of my macbook and tried pairing again.

It does make connection but it still does not play the sound through my headphones as it was supposed to.

Even connected the headphones with my macbook via the cable and then it did work so it purely is the bluetooth connection problem =/

Any additional tips/tricks are welcome!!
