Mac Tonic
Mac Tonic has appeared, already open on my MacAir. Dragging it from applications to trash doesn't work because the Ap is open. is there any way to delete it?

Use the force quit option in Activity Monitor.
Otherwise boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, as that prevents any 3rd party software from running and you should be able to delete those files.

See this topic: how to remove an application i downloaded ( mac cleaner ) and how is best to clean my i mac
It's about Mac Tonic and how to remove.
Also Macs do not need any anti virus, cleaning, optimizing or speedup apps. It has adequate built in defenses. See also this user tip: Effective defenses against malware and other threats
Yes, I hate this crap. Do a force quit and then search for it from your desktop. Then drag that **** to the trash!!!
It is a PUA (potential unwanted application) developed by PCVARK. You don't need to install any other apps to remove this PUA, please read my blog to remove it manually: Remove Mac Tonic from Mac OS X - SecureMacOS

I did try to remove the two files with the word "tonic" out of my Library as well as remove it from login but
it was still there according to Activity Monitor. Could not delete it or force quit this malware. Should have tried
deleting in "Safe Mode" Yesterday I broke down and purchased
Combo Cleaner premium which removed it- I had issues with Mac Cleaner Virus previously
otherwise my decades old mac has had no problems with insidious malware. Maybe these "Cleaners" have
stock in malware programs, who knows.
i just transferred app from finder to trash, that helped.
I tried the first link by Old Toad, and it did work. There is one step, however, where you're supposed to enter ~/Library/Application Support/MCR/ and it didn't appear as expected, but you just have to find the app among your folders even a Baby Toad can do it!
Dear all,
My friend has installed MAC tronic by mistake then ran it to scan all his files and pictures.
After a while all his pictures disappeared. Is there a way to restore these pictures please please please?
His only other alternative then is file recovery software. Using such software is always a crapshoot.
What ever he does he should stop using it. Any disk activity now is overwriting his photos.
Afterwards it would be a good idea if he ran an EtreCheck report and published it here so that we can check out if Mac Tonic did any other damage besides his photos. It can be downloaded from Etrecheck – System Information
Were you able to figure this out? I'm having the same issue.
What happened when you tried the suggestions offered above?
When I try to remove the mtc file to the trash it won’t allow me because it says the item is “open”.
I have deleted the application. I don’t know how to “close” it so I can trash it.
Any advice?
Activity monitor won't delete it because its in use,
Hey thanks! The Safe Mode trick did it!!!!
